We, members of the Lenca People and COPINH, who have come from the communities of Intibucá, La Paz, Lempira, Santa Barbará and Cortes, Lenca territories, from ancient resistance, mobilizing in this capital city since July 6 of this year to join again the actions and accompaniment to the process of indignation and to demonstrate, together with sister organizations of the Platform of Social and Popular Movements of Honduras, of which we are a part, to condemn the so-called I International Mining Congress in Honduras, which was It takes place from July 7 to 11 in Tegucigalpa, an event that reflects the continuous policy of the Government of Honduras to continue handing over territory, sovereignty, common goods and nature, to continue with the advance in the consolidation of the transnational dictatorship. We denounce that the government, SERNA , and other promoters of said congress intend to install the cynical idea that there is concern and interest in the environment, in extractive methods to make them less harmful, in the "culture of responsible and ecological mining"; We reject this campaign of farces that has been dismantled over and over again with the crushing reality of death left by mining exploitation, with science, the experience of the peoples, with the defense of the different forms of life, and with the culture and ancestral worldviews, their true purposes are demonstrated with 30% of the Honduran territory handed over to mining companies, with more than 870 concessions in the approval process and the dispossession and brutality that this means. We demand that Juan Orlando Hernández, his government, the national congress and the mining companies stop their expansion of death, pollution and the violation of the rights of indigenous peoples, blacks, peasants and the entire Honduran people, we demand that they put an end to their corrupt, illegal and illegitimate actions. Our worthy peoples and organizations are in rebellion, on alert and in processes of territorial defense that are part of our historical rights, we are continuously building life plans and without giving up profound and structural changes, rethinking Honduras with justice, equity , recasting it in its diversity. With the ancestral strength of Iselaca, Lempira, Mota and Etempica our voices full of life, justice, dignity, freedom and peace are raised!
